Who we are

Squarespell Quiz is a quiz funnel builder operated by SQUARESPELL LIMITED, a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 16182040), with its registered office at International House, 100 Menzies Road, Hastings, TN38 9BB, United Kingdom (“Squarespell”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us at info@squarespell.com.

This policy covers three groups of people: customers who create an account and build quizzes (“Customers”), people who take a Customer’s quiz (“Quiz takers”), and visitors to squarespellquiz.com.

Our role

For Customer accounts and for visitors to this website, Squarespell decides how personal data is used and is the controller. For information that Quiz takers submit through a Customer’s quiz, the Customer is the controller, and Squarespell processes that information on the Customer’s behalf and on their instructions.

What we collect from Customers

  • Account details: name, email address and password. We store passwords only as a scrypt hash. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and Google account ID from Google.
  • Billing details: your plan, subscription status and payment history. Payments are processed by Stripe, and we never see or store full card numbers.
  • Website content you ask us to read: when you paste a Squarespace site address, we read its public pages, including colors, fonts, headings and page text, to draft a quiz.
  • Quiz content: the questions, answers, outcomes, images, emails and settings you create or generate.
  • Connected tools: the keys and settings for integrations you connect, such as Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Kit, Google Sheets or a webhook URL. We encrypt these with AES-256-GCM before storing them.
  • Usage and security data: IP address, browser type, the parts of the app you use and error details, which we use to run, secure and rate-limit the service.
  • Messages you send us, such as support emails.

What we collect from Quiz takers

Quizzes can be embedded on websites built on any platform. When someone takes a quiz, we collect the following on the Customer’s behalf:

  • The details entered in the lead form. The Customer chooses the fields, which can include email address, name, phone number, company and custom fields.
  • Answers, score and outcome, and a record of any consent checkbox that was ticked.
  • Technical details: IP address, browser and device type, the page the quiz was embedded on, and quiz activity such as views, starts, completions and the question where someone stopped.
  • Whether they have unsubscribed from emails the Customer sends through Squarespell Quiz.

Quiz takers who want to see, correct or delete their data should contact the business whose quiz they took. They can also ask us to delete their data, and we confirm the request by email.

Visitors to squarespellquiz.com: analytics and cookies

This website uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are used, but only if you choose “Accept” in the cookie notice. Until you choose, and if you choose “Reject”, Google’s analytics script is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga, and _ga_ followed by an ID) and receives your IP address, browser details and the pages you view. It also records actions on this website, such as opening the demo quiz, switching between monthly and yearly prices, or submitting a website address to the quiz builder. The address you type is never sent to Google Analytics. We do not use advertising cookies on this website.

We remember your choice for 180 days in a cookie named sqs_consent. You can change it at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page; if you then reject, the analytics cookies are removed. The app at app.squarespellquiz.com uses a secure, HttpOnly cookie to keep you signed in. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

How we use personal data

  • To provide the service: create accounts, draft and run quizzes, score answers, store leads, send the result and follow-up emails Customers set up, and deliver leads to the tools Customers connect.
  • To bill Customers and manage subscriptions.
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse (including rate limits) and fix problems.
  • To send service emails, such as sign-in, billing and account notices.
  • To understand how this website is used, through Google Analytics, if you accept analytics cookies.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use Quiz takers’ data for our own marketing.

AI processing

Quiz drafts and AI writing suggestions are created with Anthropic’s Claude models. When a Customer uses an AI feature, the content that feature needs is sent to Anthropic to produce the result: for example, text read from the Customer’s website, their quiz content and, where a quiz uses AI to interpret a free-text answer or summarize a lead, the relevant answers. Nothing the AI writes is published until the Customer chooses to publish it.

Who we share data with

We use these providers to run the service. Each receives only what it needs for its task:

  • Hostinger: hosting for the app, its database and backups, this website and the mailbox we send email from.
  • Stripe: payment processing.
  • Anthropic: AI drafting and writing suggestions.
  • Google: sign-in with Google, and Google Analytics on this website.
  • Unsplash: some template images are loaded from Unsplash, so a Quiz taker’s browser connects to Unsplash to show them.

When a Customer connects an integration, we send lead data to that tool on the Customer’s instruction, for example Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Kit, Google Sheets or a webhook URL. We do not share personal data with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose data where the law requires it.

Some of these providers process data outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States.

How long we keep data

  • Account data is kept while the account is open and deleted within 30 days of account closure, except records we must keep for legal or billing reasons.
  • Leads and quiz data are kept until the Customer deletes them or closes their account.
  • Answers submitted to a Customer’s quiz after their free trial has ended without a paid plan are held for 30 days from when they arrive. They are added to the Customer’s account if a plan is chosen in that time, and deleted otherwise.
  • Backups are taken daily and kept for 14 days, so deleted data can remain in a backup for up to 14 days.
  • Security logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict how it is used. Email info@squarespell.com and we will reply. Quiz takers should contact the business whose quiz they took first, since that business controls their data. If you are in the United Kingdom, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

Squarespell Quiz is not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the product or the way we handle data changes. The date at the top of the page shows the last update.
